A voltage detector provides you with reliable support when determining if parts are energized.
Only Testo has voltage testers with all-round display. Thanks to unique light technology, readings can be clearly seen from any position. This means you can measure voltage more reliably.

Some current testers are designed for the low voltage range up to 1000 V, others for high voltage. Because modern voltage testers also function in a non-contact way, they are not only suitable for testing equipment that has been switched off, but also for checking during operation. This means it is possible to test the relevant circuits and systems without deactivating them. In addition to these classic applications, the test instruments are also used for the following tasks:
testing continuity,
determining rotating magnetic fields,
tests of residual current circuit breakers via the RC trigger function.
A non-contact voltage tester is suitable for determining the presence or absence of voltage within a short time. The test instrument is equipped with a sensitive probe that filters out high-frequency interference signals and therefore allows a particularly reliable indication of voltage. If voltage is detected, the instrument emits a clear warning signal, which is visual and/or acoustic. These test instruments often have an integrated light. This means that they can, if necessary, work in a poorly lit environment. In order to be able to deliver precise values in difficult areas, the multimeters are both watertight and dustproof and comply very often with IP class 67.
The electrical field strength is detected directly on the conductor via the non-contact phase tester and the associated sensor. There is also a warning signal if a specific voltage value is exceeded. A micro-controller integrated into the instrument is responsible for the corresponding analysis of the measurement data.
The instruments often allow two-stage setting in terms of sensitivity, for example:
stage 1 for the phase detection,
stage 2 for the voltage display.
A contactless voltage tester is a useful tool for detecting dangerous voltages quickly and for avoiding malfunctions. Irrespective of whether you have switched the instrument on, pre-selected the range or whether the battery is empty, the measuring instrument has to make the user aware of any possible danger. For the user, this means reliable protection against electric shocks and much better safety. These measuring instruments must be easy to operate, to ensure that you are not exposed to any risk. Instruments, such as Testo's current / voltage tester and digital voltage testers, are designed in such a way that there is no chance of any electric shock occurring if they are used properly. The instruments meet a high standard and have practical functions, such as:
high-class fibre-optic,
easily visible LED display,
precise voltage indication.
If a voltage tester works in a digital and contactless way, it is suitable for several purposes. The test instruments must primarily determine whether a specific voltage is present in a specific electric circuit or system. The use of a voltage tester therefore enables you to check whether the technical instruments are actually working in their environment or whether there is a fault source. This improves safety for forthcoming work, for example if you commission equipment or approach a power cable.
The voltage testers are characterised by their compact format and light weight. Depending on their design, Testo's voltage testers weigh a maximum of 230 grams and score highly thanks to their intuitive operating controls. High-frequency interference signals are immediately filtered, and you also have the choice between two sensitivity levels. The following data are standard for Testo voltage testers:
continuity testing less than 500 kΩ,
rotating magnetic field testing 100 to 690 V,
voltage range up to 1000 V,
IP 67 (watertight and dustproof), setting options for phase detection or voltage measurement,
visual and acoustic signal.
With a voltage detector from Testo, you get an innovative voltmeter which improves safety in a variety of areas. The clear, all-round display means you have no problems reading out the presented data from different positions. In addition, the reading that is currently determined is indicated on a second LC display. Furthermore, in terms of handling, you benefit from the anti-slip ring which optimises the ergonomics of the handy test instrument.
When the voltage tester digital display shows how high the voltage is, the built-in torch can be very useful. In addition, you benefit from the robust housing which reliably protects the measuring technology from outside influences. Further important product details are the accuracy which meets the DIN EN 61243-3:2010 guidelines.
The measurement functions make Testo instruments suitable for a variety of applications:
continuity testing,
rotating magnetic field testing and
single pole phase testing.
